brief history

BODYTRAFFIC is a non-profit dance company that was founded by Lillian Barbeito and Tina Finkelman Berkett in December 2007. In the company’s short history, BODYTRAFFIC has performed at the Alex Theatre, the Aratani/Japan America Theatre, the Brand Library, CalArts, the Colburn Dance Institute, Edye Second Space, Glorya Kaufman Hall, the Laguna Dance Festival, the New York Contemporary Dance Festival, and the Wadsworth Theatre. BODYTRAFFIC’s expanding repertoire includes works by Lillian Barbeito, Sarah Elgart, Alex Ketley, Andrea Miller (New York), Laura Gorenstein Miller, Barak Marshall (Israel/LA) and Guy Weizman & Roni Haver (the Netherlands).

With a core group of classically trained and professionally experienced dancers, BODYTRAFFIC commissions today’s most innovative choreographers to create work. BODYTRAFFIC has a commitment to staying on the forefront of contemporary dance and thereby offers Los Angeles a tasting of the best of the dance world.BODYTRAFFIC serves as a community vehicle for dancers, choreographers, visual artists, composers and musicians, providing all with an opportunity to experiment, create and present new work. Through performances, master classes and workshops, the company inspires creative potential in people of all ages.
